How to say “What’s the weather like?” in Russian

The answers have no subject

Тепло́ (warm), хо́лодно (cold), со́лнечно (sunny), па́смурно (overcast), ве́трено (windy), сы́ро (damp). All neuter adverbs, no verb, no subject. Add на у́лице — literally “in the street” — for “outside”.

Rain and snow “go”

Идёт дождь — it’s raining. Идёт снег — it’s snowing. Both use идти́, and the word order with the verb first is the normal one. Дождь зако́нчился — the rain has stopped.

Degrees

Пять гра́дусов тепла́ — five degrees above zero; пять гра́дусов моро́за or ми́нус пять — five below. The number rules apply: оди́н гра́дус, два гра́дуса, пять гра́дусов.
