How to say “Where is the exit?” in Russian

вход and вы́ход

Two prefixes do the work: в- is in, вы- is out. Вход (entrance), вы́ход (exit), входи́ть / выходи́ть (to go in / out). In the metro, вы́ход в го́род means the way out to the street, as opposed to a transfer.

On the signs

Вы́хода нет — no exit. Вы́ход в го́род — exit to the street. Запа́сный вы́ход — emergency exit. Нет вхо́да or Вход запрещён — no entry. And on a train, Вы выхо́дите? — are you getting off? — is what the person behind you is asking.
