How to say “I’m on my way” in Russian

The message you will send most often — and the one where идти́ and е́хать really matter.

Quick answer

ya uzhé idú — иду́ on foot, е́ду by transport — pick the right one

The options

I’m on my way. — on foot
I’m on my way. — by car or transport
I’m en route.
I’ll be there in ten minutes.
I’m running a little late.

иду́ or е́ду

On foot is иду́; in anything with wheels it is е́ду — including the metro and a taxi. Writing иду́ while sitting on a bus is the classic learner slip, and Russians notice it instantly.

Time phrases

Уже́ (already) softens a late message: Я уже́ выхожу́ — I’m leaving right now.

What you hear back

Fine, we’re waiting.
Don’t rush.
Text me when you’re here.

Typical mistakes

Я иду́ — from the bus

Transport takes

че́рез + accusative for “in ten minutes”.
