верну́сь

From верну́ться — to return, reflexive and perfective: верну́сь, вернёшься, вернётся. The past is верну́лся / верну́лась. There is also the imperfective возвраща́ться for repeated returns: я возвраща́юсь домо́й в семь.

The signs

On a closed kiosk or office door you will read Бу́ду че́рез 10 мину́т (back in ten minutes) or Техни́ческий переры́в (short break). Neither gives any indication of how long it really is.

What you hear back

Хорошо́, жду.Fine, I’ll wait.
Не спеши́.No rush.
Я здесь бу́ду.I’ll be here.

Typical mistakes

Я ско́ро верну́.

Я ско́ро верну́сь.

Without -ся the verb means “I’ll give it back”.

Я бу́ду верну́ться.

Я верну́сь.

A perfective verb has no бу́ду future.
